All About Alissa

In 2004, I found myself 40 lbs overweight and not feeling real great about myself. My husband and I were newlyweds and our favorite pastimes seemed to be eating pizza and fast food. I'd done the fad diets and pills, losing and gaining the same 20 to 30 lbs each and every time. Nothing was working for me!

I had a gym membership for several years, but I just couldn't seem to find a workout that kept me engaged, excited, and wanting more. I just could never get myself going enough to actually break a sweat. Going to the gym, for me was about burning up my lunch hour so I didn't sit back in the lunch room alone. 

My friend Tracy introduced me to the FIRM and other home workout programs like Beachbody's P90X. When I did that first workout and was sweating my butt off, I realized if I was going to work this hard I had to start eating better and seeing some results. The rest is history really! By 2006, I had lost 40 lbs by eating healthy and exercising. It wasn't easy and there were bumps along the way, but I found that by eating clean and breaking a sweat were the "magic pill" I had been looking for.

In late 2007, I became pregnant with my first daughter and ended up gaining 70 lbs. I slowly was able to lose the weight and get back down to my goal weight. Then wouldn't you know it, about 6 months after hitting my goal weight I became pregnant with my second daughter. Luckily, the second time around I only gained 40 lbs and now 20 months later am within 5 lbs of my goal weight.

Over the past few years, I've done several programs including P90X, P90X2, ChaLEAN Extreme, and most recently, Body Beast! Never in a million years would I have thought I could do programs like these, but the results make it SO worth it and I've never been happier with my body.
In December 2011, I decided it was time to share my knowledge and love for health and fitness by becoming an Independent Team Beachbody Coach . I always knew there was something more I wanted to do with my life, but wasn't quite sure WHAT that certain thing was. It's official, I've found my passion. I love helping others achieve their health and fitness goals, getting their bodies back and reclaiming their life! I am living, breathing proof that you can get your body back whether you've had babies or just struggle with your weight! 
Over the last several years I have continued with helping others start their health and fitness journey. In late 2016, I completed a second Ultimate Reset and began working with a Holistic Nutritionist. Through this I discovered I may be battling Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and Adrenal Fatigue. I've been on the journey to healing my body by following an Auto-Immune Protocol (AIP) way of eating to reduce inflammation and feed my body the foods it actually can tolerate. In this process, I've learned a lot about myself and finally have been able to put an end to my symptoms that were driving me away from what I love... health and fitness. I'm curious if any of you have dealt with this or think you might be dealing with auto-immune disorders. Reach out to me, the more we can learn from each other the better. Great story and it's motivating to know that there are other moms out there that are trying to balance work/family and the gym all while taking care of themselves. Keep it've motivated me.
